Introduction – The Birth of This Book In May , I began a series of posts entitled Beyond Evangelical, short for beyond evangelicalism. Hundreds of thousands of people read the series from all over the world and many asked me to turn it into a book. That request is the genesis of this work. During his only visit to the United States, in , Karl Barth delivered a series of lectures at the University of Chicago (and later at Princeton Seminary).
